Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, the upgrade to MOM 2005, provides a systems management solution for managing service levels of all business applications.
Monitoring and reporting of critical alerts is made easy through the Management Packs. Support teams can be notified the moment an issue arises, ensuring systems are available as rapidly as possible.
Management Packs
As part of the Windows Server System Common Engineering Criteria outlined in the the Common Engineering Roadmap, all Windows Server System technologies will deliver management packs. This means that whilst developing their world class applications, the Microsoft development teams are building the Management pack, actively encorporating monitoring and management into the application.

Enhanced Reporting
Leverages SQL Server Reporting Services to provide highly flexible and customizable enterprise-class data mining and reporting capabilities. More than 100 predefined reports cover general system monitoring and operations reports, capacity planning and performance analysis charts, and application-specific monitoring of resources, traffic, and availability, which are included in the management packs.
